Christmas Around the World

Here is a wonderful resource that I found from Arlene, from LMN Tree. She has put together some amazing free resources for those of us who are interested in "Christmas Around the World" but don't have the time to go "hunting" ourselves.
By clicking on any picture or Arlene's name, you can access her resources.

I also have a resource or two that would add to the information, although my information is about the courntries, not the Christmas traditions.

Here is an Australia Freebie.

Another cool Christmas Around the World comes from Silvia Garay Sanchez. She has one coming out each day.

TpT Super Smile Cyber Sale: Can You Say that 3x Quickly?

Thanks to Cheryl of Techie Turtle Teacher for this really cool sale sign.

Hey Everyone, It is time for the Teacher's Pay Teachers Cyber Sale which happens on Monday, November 30-Tuesday, December 1st. I'm pretty excited about it because I get to save a lot. I have put all my products on sale so hop on over to my store and catch some great deals.

Some of My Favorites:

Just click on the pictures that interest you.
This makes an outstanding introduction. I have left it in power point format so you can add your own local information. I update mine after each election.

Use white boards with this to make it more interactive

My number #1 seller. This is a work inprogress. Each year students add lines to this play.

Here is another favorite of mine. It can be used anytime as a "teambuilding" activity.

This product is for setting up your speeches. It makes the speeches look really special. I put students pictures on each page, and then flash them up when the student is giving his/her speech. It is very impressive to visitors watching the speeches.

I am totally into space, and of course Pluto is very dear to my heart. The newest New Horizons pictures are included in this one, and I update it as pictures come in.

This close reading is about a real purple sand beach located in California. It is one of my all-time favorite beaches because it is so beautiful.

I love the snack that goes with the research! It makes such a great way to finish the project.

Here is a little Freebie activity. I posted it on my website for my students. Click on the picture for the link.

I love this activity. It takes some set-up and collecting of "stuff" but it is a hit when the students are building it.
I have students bring in some of the stuff, and I get some of it at the dollar store. Sometimes the cafeteria is able to help as well.

I have been making salt candles for years. The kids use colored chalk to color the sand and we melt the wax and put a little on top. It makes a special Christmas gift.

There is some research involved with this art activity as well. When we did Teacher of the Day, our 3rd grade Teachers would actually teach this lesson.

Another really fun and educational STEM activity. The kids will love this. Some years I do it at the beginning of the school year. Lately, I have done it when studying the Colonies.

This one can be done anytime, but I usually target December & January. It also amazes me how some kids need practice in using string and tying things.

This is my favorite chart.
I refer to it and change it each week as students gain reading points using
Accelerate Reader. My students earn classroom money for Beach Parties.

If you click on this picture you will get some information about my next beach party.

I am a huge believer in goals...
which is why students fill in goals each month. I also call them up so we can discuss weekly goals in reading.

I can't believe I have so many favorites. This is a simple activity that builds vocabulary. Most of it is done at home as homework. I keep a place for students to place their works of art, so they can see how much they have learned by the end of the year.

I guess I'm a primary teacher at heart, because I love my little elf (and so do my 5th graders)!

Excellent Reading!

A fun filled day of STEM

Our rodeo takes place in spring, so it is never to early to begin planning your rodeo lessons.

I am ending with this FREEBIE
This is one of my favorite Valentine writing activities. Students write this poem on hearts, buy a box of chocolate hearts for their Mom's and practice. On Valentine's Day they present the poem.

Here are some of my favorite lessons. I hope you find something that you just can't live without.
Enjoy the sale!

Comics In the Classroom

Edutopia has listed some excellent ideas for the classroom teacher, that I can't wait to try.

Let's get those comics into the classroom to promote literacy

Students pick the pictures and do the writing.

Ornaments Provide Creative Opportunities

There are so many great choices for ornaments, that I sometimes have a tough time choosing what I want to do with my students. I will be doing one of these for my December Beach Party. I found these on Pinterest. To go to the original sites, first go to my Pinterest Ornaments Page

Since I have a beach theme in my classroom, I am seriously considering this one.

I have even made a

This ornament also goes exceptionally well with my

Another connection to Around the World is this wonderful book
If you click on the picture, you will go to Amazon to find out more. I read this book last year after a student of mine checked it out from the school library. I was enchanted, and will make sure my class has the chance to read this.

Okay, Back to the Outstanding Ornaments:

This one would be a lot of fun too. My students could look around for fun "little treasures

Of course my first decoration that I did with my students looked like this:
These are just plain fun and the kids love them!

I love this one, but think it would be harder to pull off with my students!

Most years I do a special gingerbread house with my students, but I don't use candy. I use  dried fruits, dried vegetables, and nuts. Click HERE to find out about Healthy Houses.

Crayon Shavings! Clever!

I also think this Grinch is pretty clever! It would be perfect for the Dr. Seuss fan!

This post is becoming a bit long, so I'll close for now, but stay tuned, because I have so many more ornanments to feature. You might consider following me by clicking on the "Follow Me" button, which you can find on the side,  to get the latest information and free deals.
